The last two years, the Bengals were 6-10 and 2-14.The best running backs he had were Cedric Benson, Ben-Jarvus Green-Ellis, Jeremy Hill & Joe Mixon. The best receivers Dalton had at Cincinnati were AJ Green and Tyler Boyd.Playoff record: The Bengals went to wild card games five times between 20 (2011-2015).Dalton’s win/loss breakdown with the Bengals was 70-61.So, while it’s not his forte, he can run a little bit, and can get touchdowns. But he has run for 22 touchdowns in his career. In his highest rushing year (2016), Dalton rushed for 184 yards. He’s a three-time Pro Bowl quarterback: 2011, 2014, and 2016.He’s got a career interception rate of 2.6%. In those years, Dalton threw 204 touchdowns, while getting intercepted 118 times.Over the nine years, it averages out to 62%. His yearly completion average varied from 58.% to 66.1%. Dalton started at quarterback for the Cincinnati Bengals from 2011 to 2019.That’s nice to hear, but let’s see what we’ve got with this guy. So, the question becomes, can the Cowboys win with Andy Dalton at the helm? Over the last few days, I’ve heard a lot of commentators describe Dalton as the best backup quarterback in the league. Andy Dalton will be starting at quarterback. Next week, the Cowboys will play the Arizona Cardinals on Monday night football. But in less than a week, we won’t have to imagine it. Then, this offseason, he opened up about the tragedies in his family and depression, specifically his brother’s suicide and how that affected him.īecause of this, I think it’s harder, even than it would normally be, to imagine the Dallas Cowboys without Dak Prescott. There have been many emotional moments with Prescott, starting with guiding the team to a 13-3 record his rookie season. I also think that fans feel a stronger emotional bond to Dak Prescott than to most starting NFL quarterbacks. He’s already had surgery and will be out for the rest of the season. If you didn’t see it, Prescott suffered a compound fracture and dislocation of his right ankle in last Sunday’s game against the New York Giants. It was traumatic, I’m sure for him, but also for Cowboys fans everywhere. How good can he be?īy now, we’ve all had a few days to digest the ankle injury to Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott. Because of his efforts in this game and giving the Saints a chance to win but also factoring in that his fumble was a brutal blow, I'm giving Dalton a C+.With Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott now out for the season, Andy Dalton will now be the starting QB. I mentioned how Dalton wasn't perfect but it's hard to argue that he's not the better option at quarterback, at least until Jameis Winston is healthier. On the two-point conversion, Dalton took the time to wait it out and was able to hit a wide-open Jarvis Landry to give NOLA the two points needed to take a three-point lead.ĭalton missed Jarvis initially then went back to him… no one covered him- Sean FazendeFOX8 October 2, 2022 He was connecting with players down the field and gave them every chance to win this game. What grade does Andy Dalton deserve in his Saints debut?ĭalton made this offense look the best they had all season. Dalton hit those wide open guys and while he did fumble the football, he played a clean game otherwise. Winston missed wide open guys and wouldn't even look their way and don't even get me started on the turnovers. While that play was bad, Dalton was a step up from Jameis Winston, who was awful during his three starts of the season. Doing too much- Nick Underhill October 2, 2022 That fumble set the Vikings offense up in great territory and they capitalized, adding three points to their total. He didn't throw any interceptions but he did lose a costly fumble in the first half while trying to do too much. The former TCU product went 20-of-28 tossing for 236 yards and one touchdown while getting sacked twice. It was the first start for Andy Dalton as a member of the Saints and he did okay during his Saints debut. The New Orleans Saints dropped to 1-3 after losing to the Vikings on Sunday.
